You might think that Chris Tina Bruce has lived in San Diego for years what with the quick rise or her public persona the outspoken transgender spokesperson has become a neighborhood, name known peronsality but Chris Tina Bruce has only lived in San Diego since early 2011. As a fitness trainer and competitor Bruce was catapulted into the national spot light as the first transgender to compete in a body building competition in San Diego at the Scottish Rite Center. The attention and news coverage landed Bruce in a position to speak out and about the difficulties, misconception and misperceptions that transgender individuals face on a daily and now national level. Bruce competed and took home the 2nd place trophy for female body builders. Bruce is not only the first transgender to have competed but also the first competitor to compete as both a male and a female in history.
Bruce has garnered media attention and has been featured in local magazines as well as becoming nationally covered. Interest in Bruce's journey has gone international as Bruce will be featured in a documentary about transgendered individuals and their lives. Bruce's main focus is personal fitness and publicly speaking about her journey and what it means to be transgender.
